The National Trust in Devon & Cornwall

The National Trust cares for a vast array of places and landscapes in Devon and Cornwall. As a charitable organization their purpose is to care for environments and buildings that are important to all of us in some way or other, whether it is to protect a coastline from development or save a historical or architecturally significant building from the threat of demolition and neglect.

In Devon and Cornwall The National Trust cares for over 270 miles of coastline as well as islands, marshes, art galleries, gardens and historic houses.

Arlington Court is a Regency House in North Devon with the intriguing collection of Rosalie Chichester and the Trust's largest collection of horse drawn carriages. There is also a large resident colony of lesser horseshoe bats.

Lanhydroc House is a magnificent late Victorian country house with extensive servants' quarters, gardens and wooded estate including a stunning seventeenth-century gatehouse and long gallery, a fabulous collection of spring-flowering magnolias and bluebell woods as well as an adventure playground, with wobbly bridge, scramble nets and animal sculptures.

Killerton House is a fine 18th-century house with costume collection, hillside garden and estate. It is home to the 'Paulise de Bush' costume collection, with over 9,000 outfits and features a delightful hillside garden featuring rhododendrons, magnolias, and rare trees, stunning parkland walks all year round as well as a discovery centre.
